Uganda has consistently been awash with media stories about abuse of public offices especially with graft cases in ministries, agencies and other institutions.
Of recent, security agencies have been carrying out a probe on the Speaker of the 11th Parliament, Annet Anita Among following up on her alleged abuse of office in a swoop that has led investigators to search her houses and Speakership office, confiscate luxury vehicles, unspecified amount of funds and other relevant documents.
Amidst these on-going investigations, Among has since withdrawn from her earlier expression of seeking a second term although she continues to serve as the woman Member of Parliament for Bukedea district.
In the meantime, the public is left mixed reactions on whether the government is this time committed with the fight against of corruption or a mere show of might and power.
To understand more on what is going on and it’s implications on the fight against hemorrhage of public resources, this episode of The Grind with Patrick Kamara, engages three people who have seen-it-all and been privileged to serve in positions of authority and responsibility in ensuring Uganda upholds integrity and high moral stands. This conversation begins with Hon. Wasswa Lule (a son to late President Yusuf Lule, former MP & former deputy IGG), followed by Retired Reverend Canon Diana Mirembe Nkesiga and ends with Hon. Augustine Ruzindana, who served as the IGG for the first ten years of the NRM government.
