HON. GODFREY KABBYANGA ON THE GRIND WITH PATRICK KAMARA.
The 2026 polls are now behind us. However, concerns about the manner in which the process was conducted, as well as the State’s actions during and after the exercise, still linger.
A sizeable number of Ugandans, along with the government, are still assessing how the internet shutdown affected them financially, in addition to limiting social interaction.
The government not only prides itself on controlling internet access but is also determined to introduce amendments to the Communications Act, 2017 to further regulate mainstream and social media platforms.
In this episode of The Grind with Patrick Kamara, the host tasks the Minister of State for Information, Communication and National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Kabbyanga, to explain the drive and motive behind the intended amendments, as well as the pain Ugandans continue to feel over internet restrictions.
Kabbyanga also addresses concerns about the whereabouts of the NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi, Uganda’s human rights record, and calls for broader discussions on Uganda’s political transition question—bringing President Yoweri Museveni and his son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, into the conversation.
The Minister also serves as the Kasese Regional Coordinator for the Patriotic League of Uganda, a movement founded by Gen. Muhoozi, who is also the Commander of the Armed Forces.
