The Grind – Patrick Kamara Hosts Mpuuga

0:00 / 0:00
Mpuuga's Political Journey and his next Mission.

Every politician aspires to gain power and firmly hold onto it. One of the key priorities for those who form political parties is to attract a sizeable membership. In May 2025, Nyendo-Mukungwe Member of Parliament, Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, officially unveiled his own party, The Democratic Front (DF).

The legislator, who crossed from the National Unity Platform (NUP)—where he previously served as Deputy President and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament—had earlier belonged to the Democratic Party, where his political aspirations were born and nurtured.

After facing a difficult time with NUP leaders and supporters, he left to establish DF. Although the party did not win a single MP seat in the 2026 general elections, Mpuuga insists that their candidates were cheated. He maintains that his vision for DF goes beyond winning political seats, extending to recruiting, nurturing talent, and building potential.

In this episode of The Grind with Patrick Kamara, Mathias Mpuuga shares his story—how he developed a thick skin amidst numerous accusations both within and outside NUP, reflects on his time in Parliament, gives his views on Uganda’s current political class and civil society, and discusses his next move in the political space, as well as his mission outside Parliament following his absence from the 12th House.
