NRM youths arrested

The police have blocked a meeting called by NRM youth in Kayunga district.

The meeting was to be presided over by the wife of the Prime Minister Jacqueline Mbabazi.

Led by their leader Swaibu Aliga, the youth were meeting to prepare for Mbabazi’s visit to the region to mark the district’s sports day.

Aliga says they informed the police early enough about the meeting but were shocked to receive a letter blocking their meeting this morning.

The meeting comes amid a growing rift between NRM youth and their leaders with some backing Amama Mbabazi while others have openly declared their support for president Museveni as party’s flag bearer in 2016.

At a recent meeting with the two factions, president Museveni called for unity.
