Ugandan traders seeking compensation for damages suffered while in South Sudan have called off the proposed demonstration.

This was after meeting the Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura this afternoon.

Kayihura told traders that government was addressing their issues but the process was only being held back by bureaucracies.

He has also cautioned the traders against taking violent actions because it might instead work against their efforts.

Earlier this week, traders under the Uganda South Sudan Traders Association threatened to hold peaceful demonstration in the city and near the borders with South Sudan over delayed compensation for their losses.

The traders who are demanding over 41billion shillings in compensation have now agreed to suspend the demo until Tuesday next week.
