Police Chiefs Agree To Combat Transnational Crime
The Uganda Police Force and the Rwandan National Police have resolved to intensify initiatives and strategies for bilateral cooperation aimed at combating transnational crimes.
This was agreed during a bilateral meeting attended by delegates from the two police forces held in Mbarara yesterday.
The police chiefs agreed that some of the crimes to be given due attention are terrorism, drug and human trafficking as well as cybercrime.
Uganda’s Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura said security of one country cannot be guaranteed if it is not tied onto that of the region and beyond.
While his Rwandan counterpart, Commissioner General Emmanuel Gasana emphasized the need for the two countries to share intelligence and security briefs if the region and two countries are to remain safe.
They also resolved to have quarterly meetings with the next one scheduled for January in Kigali.
