The police have been heavily deployed at the Railway Grounds from where city mayors had threatened to demonstrate, demanding that George Agaba be arrested and tried in court.

The city director for physical planning was re-arrested yesterday in relation with the Luzira shooting, in an eviction exercise that turned bloody leaving one person dead.

Santos Komakech, Agaba’s bodyguard was earlier arrested and charged with murder, leading to public outcry over the release of his boss.

The police however maintained that his release didn’t mean he was a free man and said investigations were still ongoing.

A small group of supporters of the Activists for Change led by Ingrid Turinawe went to the grounds briefly, holding placards accusing the police of brutality and demanding for the prosecution of Agaba.

They are now demanding that Agaba be tried, threatening to go ahead with their demonstration if he is not taken to court.

The police have indicated that Agaba will be taken to court anytime.
