Police in Kakira town are hunting for a medical doctor for allegedly procuring abortion that resulted into the death of a 17-year old girl.

Dr. Victor Kapanga is said to have conducted the abortion at his clinic in Namaganga village in Bussede sub-county on the request of a one Charles Kipanga who had impregnated the girl.

The Kakira Division Police Commander David James Wamunyerere says the suspect is said to have committed the offence on May 23.

The DPC says when the girls’ condition deteriorated she was taken to Jinja referral hospital where she died on arrival.

Walyemere however says the deceased’s body was hurriedly taken from hospital without a postmortem report but during the burial at Ngalake village in Bussede sub-county one of the residents tipped police which then halted burial and also arrested as a prime suspect.
