President Yoweri Museveni has advised the people of Burundi to talk less about power and term limits if they are to prosper.
The president who was opening a two day High Level Political Dialogue between government of Burundi and opposition political leaders also advised them to build their country on unity for prosperity.
This was a follow up of the mandate given to president Museveni by the 3rd extra ordinary summit of the East African Community (EAC) that sat in Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania on July 6th to lead and facilitate dialogue in a bid to find a lasting solution to the political crisis.
He also asked them to support regional integration which offers a bigger market for their products.
The dialogue involves eminent persons who include two past presidents of Burundi, religious leaders, civil society organizations, members of the business community and a cross section of other stakeholders at Blair Hotel in the capital Bujumbura.

Mr Museveni said he was happy to hear from Burundi Vice President, HE Prosper Mbazombaza that the government had disarmed the youth groups that had been disturbing people with ilegally acquired guns.

“Guns must be a monopoly of the State which is accountable to the people and must only be used purposefully like a surgeon’s knife”, Mr Museveni said.

The EAC Secretary General Amb. Richard Sezibera thanked president Museveni for acting as requested by the EAC Summit.

The president is accompanied to the Burundi Dialogue by the Minister of State for Regional Cooperation Phillemon Mateke and Uganda’s Ambassador to Burundi Maj. Gen. Matia Kyaligonza.
