Cabinet has approved the proposal to revise and increase allowances for public servants in the country effective next financial year.

Briefing journalists at the Uganda Media center about the resolutions made by government on Monday at State house, the deputy director of the center, Col Shaban Bantariza says the resolution is meant to boost the morale of the low income workers and increase their productivity.

Bantariza says these revised allowance rates will bridge the gap between different people irrespective of their positions at their various workplaces.

He adds that the rates which were last revised in 2008 will see night allowances within and outside Uganda, sitting allowances, food and transport allowances all increased.

He further reveals that currently permanent secretaries get 150,000 for per dm while drivers and escorts are only entitled to shs 55,000
