Reconciliation Calls Dominate Christmas Sermons

The Archbishop of Kampala Dr.Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has asked Christians to denounce hatred as they celebrate this Christmas.
In his message to the Congregation at Rubaga Cathedral this morning, Arch Bishop Lwanga said several people have been killed in cold blood due to the deep rooted hatred among Ugandans.
He said hatred will not take the country forward but will only deter development because it breeds unnecessary divisions.
Referring to the recent killings in Kasese district, he has urged Ugandans to raise their children with the love of God as the best way to ensure love and harmony prevails among the different communities.
He also urged Christians to take the lead in protecting the environment because environmental degradation causes great suffering to the affected communities.
At the All Saints Catherdral Nakasero, the Archbishop of the Church Of Uganda the Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali has asked christians remember the birth of Jesus Christ with a spirit of reconciliation.
Archbishop Ntagali said the birth of Jesus Christ should bring about reconciliation between families that are faced with domestic problems so that values of marriage are restored.
He added that this Christmas should also bring reconciliation among politicians so that they can live in harmony despite their difference in ideology.
Meanwhile, church leaders have been warned against involvement in dubious land dealings.
The warning has been sounded by the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese Kityo Luwalira while delivering his Christmas message to Christians at Namirembe Cathedral this morning.
He has advised church leaders and all Christians to be cautious while handling land matters which have become a major cause of conflict in the country.
Bishop Luwarira has urged all stakeholders to join hands in raising awareness about land rights to reduce cases of violence resulting from land wrangles.
He warns that such conflicts over church land undermine God’s Glory and should be avoided in the year 2017.
Seperately, Kampala Vicar General Rev. Father Charles Kasibante has advised all parents to refrain from using dirty language in the presence of their children.
Delivering his Christmas sermon at St Peter’s Church Nsambya this morning, Fr.Kasibante said profane language pushes young children away from God’s presence.
He has also criticized parents who dress indecently, blaming it for the increasing moral decadence in society.
He says as Christians remember the birth of Jesus Christ today, they should focus on a holistic improvement of their spiritual body.
