Rwenzururu King at Nalufenya police station in Jinja

David Kugonza | November 28, 2016

The minister of internal affairs Gen Je Je Odong has defended government’s invasion of the Rwenzururu King’s Palace in Kasese.

The UPDF yesterday stormed the palace in an effort to disarm and arrest members of a militia believed to be linked to the kingdom, a scuffle that claimed 46 lives.

Now Speaking to Journalists at the Ministry headquarters, the minister said this followed failure by the Omusinga Charles Mumbere to cooperate and hand over the perpetuators of violence.

The minister now says the Rwenzururu King Mumbere who was airlifted from Kasese is being held at Nalufenya police station in Jinja

The clash at the palace left 46 people killed and 139 arrested
