The hearing of a case involving National Unity Platform supporters and the bodyguard of presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has taken a new twist with security agencies relocating them from Masaka to Kyotera where they are said to have committed other offenses.

Those transferred to Kyotera include Edward Ssebuffu, Hassan Katumba, Stanley Kafuko, and Lukman Kampala Mwejukye.

During the Monday court sitting at Masaka chief magistrate court, the four, together with other NUP supporters were charged with inciting violence and acting in a manner likely to cause the spread of infectious diseases.

Whereas some met bail application conditions,  others failed and were remanded to Masaka main prison until 19th January.

However, Ssebufu and his colleagues were today taken to Kyotera where they reportedly committed the offense and will face charges of assault and malicious damage to property.

Records before court indicate that on 26 December 2020 at Kifuta village in Kyotera District, they committed the offense of malicious damage of property when they damaged a police patrol car registration number UP 2573, and also assaulted police officers that were in the line of duty at the time of the attack.

Majeran Kazibwe, one of the lawyers of the accused persons says that they are yet to get the people that were granted bail yesterday because they have managed to pay their bail money and are processing their release orders.
