Seven people have been struck dead by lightning.

The deceased were watching a football match at Kere primary school grounds in Kween District.

According to Yasin Siwaone of the eye witnesses, the deceased where struck after yesterday’s heavy down pour.

While one Samson Araptuni a resident of Chemwania has survived with one side of his body paralysed.

The Sipi region Police Commander, James Ruhweza says several survivors were rushed to Kapchorwa and Mbale hospitals for treatment.

Kween LCV chairman George Machinjaki says an unspecified number of domestic animals were also killed by lightning.
