The Government is to spend over 180 million shillings on refreshing the national anthem.

The special project is being spearheaded by local renowned artist Alex Mukulu.

Addressing journalists, Mukulu said the project is aimed at giving the national anthem a boost and put a performance touch to it.

He says making the anthem more lively would also encourage more Ugandans to identify with it besides using it as a tool to market the country

The proposal has however drawn mixed reaction from both the public and members of parliament

While some MPs like Godfrey Kiwanda think it is a welcome idea, Florence Namayanja has trashed it as total waste of resources.
