At least six suspected poachers have gone missing inside Murchison Falls National Park in Nwoya District in the last six years, according to a report by local officials.

The latest was identified as Ben Ojok, aged 32, and a resident of Goro village in Koch Sub County in Nwoya District.

Ojok reportedly went poaching with five other men on, July 4, but since then he did not return home after had contact with Game Rangers of the Uganda Wildlife Authority inside the park at place called Langele.

The incident has raised fear among the communities living in areas surrounding the national game park.

Mr John Bosco Okullu, the Koch Goma Sub County Chairperson says the first case of a resident missing inside the park was first registered in July 2012.

According to Okullu, a man identified as Charles OngomLukong went to poach but reportedly never returned.

MrOkullu says the community suspects that Lukong could have been killed by game rangers and his body was hidden.

Other residents who are alleged to have disappeared after they illegally entered the park are; Jacob Okot, a resident of Purongo Sub-county
