South Sudan’s government and rebels are to sign a ceasefire shortly, according to mediators in Ethiopia.
The talks had been deadlocked over the issue of 11 political detainees, whom the rebels want to be freed before discussing a ceasefire.
Meanwhile, members of parliament from South Sudan have hailed Uganda for its intervention.
A delegation of 6 led by the Speaker Manaseh Magok Rundial said Uganda’s intervention was timely.
They all hailed Ugandan MPs for approving the deployment saying it helped save lives and protect foreigners and key installations in the country.
They further clarified that Uganda was not in South Sudan to fight but rather was helping enforce peace attacking all the critics of the deployment.
