South Sudanese killed as building collapses in Kansanga

One person died and several others sustained serious injuries after Loi-Lung Restaurant (a commercial building) collapsed in Kansanga on Sunday evening as football fans watched the West Ham Vs Arsenal match.

The incident took place near Kampala International University, opposite Palm village shopping Mall along Kansanga Ggaba Road, Makindye division in the Kampala district

According to Police, preliminary investigations revealed that the building had an extension of a storey structure with two floors. It was also established that all the victims were South Sudanese.

The four victims with minor injuries were rescued by residents and rushed to Mukwaya Hospital.

Unfortunately, a one Ayuer Mario, who was seriously injured and rescued by the Fire Prevention and rescue services was pronounced dead on arrival at Mulago Hospital.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Oweyesigire says an investigation is still ongoing, and further updates will be provided in due course.
