Rugby. The Heathens player has been playing with metal plates in his right leg.
Thirteen months after breaking his leg in a horrific injury during the Nile Special Super 8 semifinal against G4S Pirates, Heathens’ Phillip Wokorach is yet to recover fully.
Wokorach made a comeback in January but has been playing with metal plates in his right leg. He has also been training with the national 7s side in preparation for the July 23-August 3 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Tomorrow, the 21-year-old will undergo surgery at International Hospital Kampala to have the metals extracted. It’s going to take six weeks for him to fully recover after the extraction. “The doctor allowed me to play with the plates after 10 months,” said Wokorach. “I would like to thank God, the Kyadondo family, my family, friends and my former school Hana for supporting me through the trying times.”
Wokorach was tackled by Pirates’ Anthony Kinene as he drove to the try line in Heathens’ 13-12 win at Kyadondo in March 2013.
