The government has been challenged to interest its security agencies in understanding the role of financial technologies in detecting and eliminating cybercrime.

The call is made by Edith Kuteesa, the Chief Executive Officer Mcash –Uganda at the Annual Fintech conference organized by Financial Technologies Service Providers Association (FITSPA) in Kampala.

She said the Fintech business is still unknown to many judicial officers and other people heading tribunals yet it could help ease the handling of court cases relating to financial crimes.

Kuteesa has meanwhile asked the operators of fintech in the country to comply with the 7 principles that guide compliance to the data protection regulations under the Data Protection and Privacy Act to avoid breaches that may result in violation of the customer’s rights.
