Uchumi supermarket has been dragged before the Commercial Court for failure to pay chicken supplied to it by Ugachick poultry breeders.

In the suit, Ugachick is demanding over 185 million shillings non- payment of dressed chicken supplied to Uchumi various branches in Kampala.

According to Ugachick executive director, Aga Sekalala, the chicken was supplied between March and July this year on credit but the supermarket has since failed to clear the debt thus causing financial loss to his business.

The court registrar Thaddeus Opesen has now issued summons ordering Uchumi supermarket to respond to these claims within 10 days.
