The 3rd Session of the Uganda – Burundi Joint Permanent Commission gets underway today.

The 3 day meeting taking place in Burundi’s capital Bujumbura seeks to among other things further bolster cordial bilateral relations between Uganda and Burundi countries with the aim of reviewing cooperation in various sectors.

While commissioning the Chancery building of Uganda’s embassy in Bujumbura, the Special Envoy for special duties in the office of the president Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda encouraged the two respective sides to use this impetus to agree on a framework that can improve trade relations between the two countries.

He urged them to push for promoting the much-desired socio-economic transformation of the two people, promoting sustainable people to people relationship beyond government; increasing house hold incomes and livelihood of people from both countries.

Meanwhile, he urged the Uganda Embassy staff in Burundi to maximally utilize the newly commissioned chancery building to show value for money through promoting trade and business between Uganda and Burundi.

The building was constructed on a 3.2  acre piece of land allocated to Uganda by the government of Burundi in Kiyange Village, Buterere Zone, Bujumbura City.
