Uganda to host the first ever EA Agri- business congress

Uganda is set to host the first ever Agri- business congress East Africa.

The Agri business congress East Africa is a regional platform for discussions and knowledge sharing aimed at addressing pertinent issues that are preventing the EC community from growing into a business hub.

The congress which will take place tomorrow 29^th to 30^th of this month at the Kampala Serena hotel is expected to host over 150 expertise across east Africa.

The board chair Uganda grain council Chris Kaijuka who are the organizers of the event says the congress will help show case modern technology inform of machines like tractors and seeds among others to the farmers who are the targeted beneficiaries of the congress.

He also says the congress seeks to improve on the market especially by linking farmers to the exporters.

The Executive Director NAADS Uganda Dr. Samuel Mugasi says Agriculture remains a key employment sector contributing to 68% of employment to Uganda and 20% of the country’s GDP but the challenge is weak value chains in the sector.

He urges the public to embrace the congress in order to strengthen value chains and create a wider market for their products.
