Abraham Phillip Kiplimo has won Uganda’s first medal (Bronze) at the Commonwealth Games.

Michael Shelley won Commonwealth gold ahead of Kenya’s Stephen Chemlany in the men’s marathon in Glasgow.

Australia’s Shelley, silver medallist at the Delhi Games in 2010, ran a determined final 5km to win comfortably with a personal best of two hours 11 minutes 15 seconds.

Chemlany was 43 seconds behind the 30-year-old, while Uganda’s Philip Kiplimo was third.

England’s Steve Way  produced a personal best of his own to finish in 10th.

In more news coming in from Glasgow Scotland, Uganda has progressed to the semifinal of the Rugby Sevens after beating Malaysia 35-0.

Uganda now faces Canada.

Australia tops the medals table with 53, followed by England and Scotland with 45 and 25 respectively.
