Ugandan traders in South Sudan must register with the Ugandan embassy for easy tracking in case of emergencies or any crisis.
The caution follows reported cases of murder of Ugandan traders in South Sudan, with some victims’ identities remaining unknown because they are not registered.
According to the Aswa Region police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema, many Ugandans are murdered in South Sudan but despite being claimed by their relatives, the police cannot help much because many of them enter the country illegally.
He says there is a need for all Ugandans to register with the Ugandan embassy for easy follow up.
