Uganda’s Aviation regulator will now offer on spot penalties to aviation companies that do not meet the safety standards thanks to the amended CAA amendment Act 2019.
The Act which was assented to by president Museveni has seen the regulator’s name change from the current Civil Aviation Authority to now Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).
The Authority’s spokesperson Vienna Luggya says the act which now gives the UCAA inspectors power to inspect aerodromes, air operator premises and aircrafts without prior notice will enhance safety and efficiency in services provision.
The act has also seen changes in titles of management staff for example the Managing Director will now be a Director General.
The UCAA is a government agency responsible for licensing, monitoring, and regulation of civil aviation matters.
