Government says the country’s economy will be growing at a rate of 7% in the next financial year, up from the current 6%.

The Minister for Finance Matia Kasaijja says “if it was not for the COVID-19 pandemic that made some investors retract their investments, the country’s economy would be growing at a rate of 8%.”

He says that the economy has been able to grow at a rate of 6%, with “some hitches”.

He made the remarks at the opening of a new office for Goldmine Finance, a money-lending company in Kabalagala, a Kampala suburb.

He asked the community to ensure that they engage in businesses that create jobs for the citizens and also pay taxes.
