Bureaucracy and corruption have been cited as some of the factors frustrating UK investors seeking to start up business in Uganda.

This was revealed by Lord Dolar Popat from the House of Lords during a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga whom he hosted to a dinner in London yesterday.

Lord Popat who was born in Uganda and is currently the British Prime Minister’s trade envoy for Rwanda and Uganda said British investors are keen to focus more in the areas of trade and investment however expressing concern with the slow pace of doing business in Uganda.

The Speaker said that she would take up the issue with the responsible ministries, acknowledging the need to tackle these issues head-on adding that Uganda is interested in more investment that would create employment.
