Makerere University don Mwambutsya Ndebesa has attacked the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Members of Parliament for limiting the age limit consultative meetings to just a few people.

Ndebesa tells KFM that the NRM MPs have resorted to biased sampling where only those who reason in favor of the bill are consulted instead of the general public, a claim the party leadership has often denied.

He says this is a non-democratic process which is going to yield manufactured consent to have the constitution amended basing on the few NRM cadres they consulted.

Ndebesa now advises the MPs not to undermine the constitution because of the interests of one person but consider consequences of such actions on the entire country.

The NRM is pushing for amendment of article 102(b) of the constitution to lift the age limit for presidential candidates.

A selected team of the party leadership is currently conducting country wide consultations on the controversial age limit bill.
