The Uganda Revenue Authority has partnered with various tax experts, including those in academia to sensitize traders on the controversial Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS) that led to a recent standoff between the tax man and the business community.

The authority’s Assistant Commissioner of Public and Corporate Affairs Ibrahim Bossa has welcomed the move, saying it will go a long way in boosting tax education among members of the public.

“As an authority we prayed I being able to meet and dialogue  with our stake holders, a stake holder dialogue is part and passo of revenue mobilisation, so we think that this is a very powerful  platform that can enable the URA but also our stakeholders to discus honestly on  some of the issues,” he commented.

Recently the traders closed their shops protesting what they called unfair implementation of the digital invoicing system, claiming they did not know how the system worked.
