The first virtual NSSF- Monitor Publications annual universities career expo closes today with more great speakers lined up to address students on how to prepare themselves for the versatile job market.

 

Today’s speakers are Japheth Kawanguzi, founder of innovation village, Geoffery Sajjabi, the head of business at the National Social Security Fund and Juliana Kaggwa, the director of marketing at Uganda Breweries Ltd.

 

While addressing university students on Wednesday, Milton Owor, the head of human resources at the NSSF asked them to challenge themselves to acquire skills like leadership, analytics, critical thinking and other social skills because machines do not have them.

“I was reading somewhere that in 2020, at least 30 percent of jobs were being operated by machines and in 2025, the percentage will go to 60”, he said

 

Ron Kawamara, the Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Uganda advised the students to always try to get something to do even if it means going for unpaid internship.

The virtual career expo has been running since March 24th under the theme “Repurposing your career goals to the new normal: New World, New Capabilities,
