Voting continues at a slow pace at most polling centers in a by election for the Kasese district woman member of parliament.

At some polling centers the exercise started late and the delays were due to late delivery of polling materials at some far off centers.

While at other centers like Muhochya Primary School voting has been disrupted by a slight drizzle which forced the polling officials to shift the voting materials into the classrooms.

At the Pentecostal Church poling center the delays were due to disagreements over the sitting arrangement of the polling agents and voters who had no voter’s cards, requiring lengthy processes of identification.

Meanwhile KFM’s Thembo Kahungu who is in Nsenyi where the FDC candidate cast her vote this morning, says voters are seen queuing up at most polling centers waiting to cast their votes.

Speaking shortly after she cast her vote at St Tereza secondary school FDC’s Winnie Kiiza expressed concern over the heavy police and military deployment in the district, which she says may intimidate voters.

The other two candidates are yet to cast their votes with the NRM’s  Rehma Muhindo cexpected at  Kichwamba, while DP’s Rosemary Masika will be in Kasese Municipality.

And all the candidates have expressed hope for nothing less than victory.

The by-election resulted from a court ruling that nullified the election of Winnie Kiiza over irregularities
