Workers house The workers Union has threatened to take industrial action if the finance minister does not address leadership gaps at the National Social Security Fund.

The chairman General of the National Organisation of Trade unions Usher Wilson Owere says the fund is currently being operated without any Top leadership to provide a sense of direction. Last year Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka asked the NSSF Board to advertise all top positions including that of the Managing Director, Deputy Managing Director and Corporation Secretary.

The outsourcing was done by International audit firm Price water house coopers which gave its recommendations to the Finance minister two months ago.

Owere says the delay by the Finance minister to appoint the three substantive candidates for the top management positions creating uncertainty and confusion in the Fund.

Recently, Aruu County MP Odonga Otto moved a motion in parliament for an investigation into the recruitment process of the top executives. However, the NSSF chairman Ivan Kyayonka denied allegations of conflict of interest and mismanagement saying the recruitment process was handled in accordance with the law.
