Accommodation prices art different hotels have shot up in Katakwi town ahead of youth celebrations tomorrow.

The district is this year hosting the celebrations with the theme “We are the investment choices we make, youth matter,”

Sarah Acen one of the restaurants operators has bought three goats just to cook at her restaurants and expecting to pocket about shs1,000,000 at the end of the event.

Meanwhile the district has also been hit by shortage of hotel rooms.

The small lodges that had been charging at shs 15,000 per room have been raised to shs 40,000 and most of them have all been booked.

This might force visitors to spend nights at the nearby primary schools or Soroti town and drive 37 kilometer to Katakwi.

Pius Bigirimana the permanent secretary in the minister Gender said they are expecting a big number of youths adding that it’s the right time youth make changes in development
