Youth have been tipped on supporting the investment opportunities in west Nile region with a target of investing in 100,000 youth across the value chain by 2030.

Speaking at the launch of the West Nile Region Business Symposium, an initiative aimed at boosting investment opportunities and unlocking the full potential of the West Nile region, Gudula Naiga Basaza, the Executive Director of Gudie Leisure Farm, said that the youth are committed to generating support to young entrepreneurs within and from across Uganda that are already investing.

Basaza stated that the initiative is deliberate in creating investment promotion platforms through which the region’s leaders, youth, business community, and government can highlight the commercial opportunities the region offers.

She added that the region’s communities especially youth are deliberately meaningfully engaged in the country’s development that they feel that they are equal beneficiaries of its wealth.

Meanwhile, Tualib Onzima, the Arua Gudie Leisure Farm’s region leader of Young Agripreneurs Champions Network said the youth from 32 parishes in the region have been able to incubate over 6400 youth in the region.

Onzima says the youth have already started forming 25 cottage industries in each parish that have the capacity to employ 2500 youth.

The collaborative efforts aim to revolutionize the agricultural sector and propel economic growth in the area.
