The trial of the 2010 bomb suspects resumes today at the High Court in Kampala.

The trial was halted in March this year following the death of the lead prosecutor Joan Kagezi.

Kagezi was shot dead by unknown assailants in Kiwatule a Kampala suburb.

Defence lawyers led by Caleb Alaka will cross-examine the first prosecution witness and a convict in this same case Mahmoud Mugisha.

In 2011 Mugisha pleaded guilty to the offence of conspiracy to perform acts of terrorism and was sentenced to five years in prison- a sentence he has completed serving and turned into a state witness.

Mugisha had identified five of the suspects including Habib Sulaiman Njoroge, Hussein Hassan Agade and Mohamed Ali all of them Kenyans as well as two Ugandans Isa Luyima and Dr. Ismail Kalule.

He had also pinned Suleiman Hijja Nyamandondo, a Tanzanian whom he alleged to have transported bomb materials from Kenya and Somalia to Uganda.

The group is charged with 76 counts of murder, 10 of attempted murder, three for terrorism, aiding and abetting terrorism.
