The president of the Democratic Party Norbert Mao has asked the vice president of Buganda region Betty Nambooze and her defiant group of DP MPs to observe the party constitution and leadership or leave the party.

Addressing journalists at the party headquarters at city house in Kampala, Mao said that the Masaka conference was illegal and uncalled for since the party leadership did not approve it.

He explains that Nambooze and her team are spreading tribal propaganda putting Buganda at the forefront forgetting that other tribes have also contributed to the development of the party.

He warns that if they cannot obey the party constitution, they are free to get out and go where they are happy, warning that the party will not allow to be disorganized.

DP Buganda Leaders were on Sunday blocked from holding a meeting in Masaka because the party leaders had not approved it.

Earlier, the party National Executive Committee suspended Nambooze for three weeks over defying the party president.
