Ugandan authorities have started the relocation of Congolese refugees from Busongoa border to Bukukwanga Transit camp in Bundibugyo district.

Hundreds of Congolese refugees fled to Uganda on Wednesday morning when Ugandan Allied Democratic Forces rebels overan Kamango town about 12kms from the Ugandan border.

The UPDF 2nd Division spokesperson Maj. Ronald Kakurungu says at least eight hundred refugees have been registered and are being relocated to the transit camp.

Maj. Kakurungu says the UPDF have secured the Ugandan borderline to ensure no negative elements infiltrate into the country.

Meanwhile, the Congolese government forces have regained control of Kamango town after a special United Nations force used helicopter gunships to repulse the rebels.

The ADF which fought an unsuccessful rebellion in western Uganda over a decade ago have been regrouping inside the Congolese jungles.
