Floods paralyse work at Kisiizi Hospital in Rungiri

Reporter | September 12, 2017

By Edson Kinene Rukungiri:

Atleast 200 patients admitted at Kisiizi hospital in the western district of Rukungiri are stranded after the wards got submerged in flood waters.

The rains that lasted three days have left the hospital infrastructure and compound all covered in water.

Kate Rwomushana, the In-charge nurse the rains that started on Saturday night forced them to move patients to the stairs after all their beds were submerged.

Dr. Francis Banya the gynecologist says their biggest challenge now is the lack of running water as all water pipes were destroyed by the rains.

He adds that the water entered the power house and the electricity went off, causing the death of three babies that were on oxygen.
