MPs urged to declare wealth

Prossy Kisakye | February 12, 2025

Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, Anita Among, recently directed Members of Parliament to declare their wealth (assets and liabilities) to the Inspector General of Government (IGG) promptly.

According to the Leadership Code Act, Chapter 33, designated leaders, including members of the Executive, the Legislature, and civil servants, are legally obligated to declare their income, assets, and liabilities every two years in March.

“Members, I want to urge you to make sure you go and declare your riches. You can go and declare your riches and poverty to the IGG,” Among said.

This year’s declaration is themed “Enhanced Accountability Through Wealth Disclosure.”
