A joint force of the UPDF and Police has beefed up security in Karamoja sub region as the festive season sets in.

Check points have been established along the border of Uganda and Kenya with patrols in the entire Karamoja region intensified.

Security personnel have also been deployed to public places like churches, bars while others are on the buses.

Moroto Regional Police Commander Okot Obwona says all the security members in the seven Karamoja districts are carrying out patrols.

The UPDF 3rd division spokesperson Capt. Jimmy Omara says the army is on high alert to counter any attempt by Al-shabbab militia to cause chaos.
