A report on Student’s loan scheme released.

A report on student’s loan scheme has indicated 46.3% coverage level compared to number of applicants.

Available data show that since the beginning of this scheme in the financial year 2014/15 a total of 3799 students have benefited out of the 10288 number of students applied

According to the report presented before the parliamentary Equal Opportunities committee chaired by Kampala central Mohammed Nsereko , the available funda covers only 46.3% of the annual application.

The report further show that the number of girls benefiting from this scheme stands at 919 compared to 2845 male.

The Higher Education student’s financing Board is expected to start recovering the loan given to first students in 2019.
