The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) spokesperson, Col Deo Akiiki, says they have killed a significant number of Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels on Lake Edward off Kayanja Landing site in Kasese district.

According to Akiiki, they have been pursuing rebels behind an attack on two foreign tourists and their Ugandan guide last month in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

He says a joint intelligence-led operation saw a number of them perish on Tuesday night

“It is true some ADF terrorists whom we have been tracking down since the attack on our tourists were finally got on their boat and a number of them were killed last night,” Akiiki said.

He noted that the operation is still on to finish all the ADF splinter groups.
