The National Environmental Management Authority has asked a Chinese stone quarry company to adopt an environmentally friendly blasting technology, as it continues to crush stone at Bamutakudde village in Mukono district.

The Chinese Communications Construction Company is accused of violating and depriving the residents of Bamutakudde village in Mukono District of their rights to a clean environment following the stone quarrying project that the firm is carrying out in their neighborhood.
NEMA in its environment improvement notice issued to the Chinese company, has instructed the company to protect the community living near the quarry from inhering dust which is generated during the stone crushing, exercise .

The stones are being crushed at this quarry is being used to construct the Kampala-Entebbe express high way.

Author Bukenya one of the community leaders in the area claims that women have got a miscarriage due to the heavy blasting of the stones.

And the waters in most of the wells around have been contaminated by dust.
