Performing artists have renewed their calls for the government to establish an independent ministry to help advance their cause.

According to Francis Peter Ojede, the executive director for the Uganda National Cultural Center says an independent ministry would spearhead enactment of specific policies for promoting the arts and culture sector in Uganda.

Ojede made the remarks while officiating at the launch of the Uganda National Cultural Centre’s annual arts and culture festival.
