97 Christian pilgrims from Kabale and Mbarara dioceses have crossed Mbarara town trekking to Namugongo, ahead of the Martyrs Day celebrations scheduled for June 3rd.

The 65-man delegation from Kabale diocese led by Julius Birungi Byakristu hopes to spend a maximum of 10 days on the journey.

Birungi says the journey has been smooth so far except for insults from bystanders, who have accused them of being idle, with some even sending their dogs to attack them.

The delegation from Mbarara diocese was drawn from Sheema district and comprises of 32 believers from the parishes of Mushanga, Nyabwina, Rwentunda and Kashekuro.
