Former FDC leader Dr Kiiza Besigye has been arrested.

He was arrested as he tried to leave his home in Kasangati town, where the police has been heavily deployed.

He was whisked away in a police van UP 1928 to Kiira Division Police Post where he is being detained.

The police earlier blocked him from leaving his home, with deployment effected early in the morning.

FDC women league leader, Ingrid Turinawe says that Besigye was this morning informed that he will not be allowed to access town indefinitely.

Led by Kasangati DPC Seiko Chemonges, the officers are stationed at the opposition leader’s home.

This is coming days after police dispersed Besigye’s supporters in Kisekka market where he had gone to visit.

Efforts to get a comment from the police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba have been futile while her deputy, Patrick Onyango said he could not comment on the matter.
