Police has blocked a group of opposition politicians from the Forum for Democratic Change party led Dr Kizza Besigye who had gone to Kira police station to visit Makerere university research fellow Dr Stella Nyanzi.

Dr Nyanzi was arrested on Friday night at Mackinnon Suites Hotel in Nakesero over cyber harassment contrary to Section 24 of the Computer Misuse Act of 2011 and Offensive Communication contrary to Section 25 of the same law.

However, when Besigye showed up with other opposition leaders including the Lord Mayor of Kampala Erias Lukwago, former leader of Opposition in parliament Wafula Oguttu, the party’s secretary for mobilization, Ingrid Turinawe among others, Police barred them from accessing Nyanzi on condition that their visit was unplanned.

Lukwago says they had gone to ensure that Nyanzi is brought to court since the 48 hours one is supposed to be retained are over but they were denied access.
