The hearing of the incitement to violence case against Dr. Kiiza Besigye, a veteran opposition politician, is set to resume on Tuesday at Buganda Road Magistrates Court.

Besigye and activist Samuel Lubega Mukaaku are jointly charged with inciting violence during the June 2022 Kampala protests against high commodity prices.

Although Besigye is currently on remand at Luzira prison on separate national security charges, he is out on bail for this specific case.

The pair is expected to appear before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Winnie Nankya for further hearing.

The prosecution alleges that Besigye and Mukaaku used a loudspeaker to urge people to overthrow the government, an act deemed as inciting violence.
