The Member of Parliament for Mukono municipality Betty Nambooze has showed up at CID Headquarters in Kibuli to show her support for Makerere University research fellow Stella Nyanzi.

Nyanzi was summoned to appear before CID for attacking the minister of education also first lady Janet Kataha Museveni on social media using abusive language after she had informed parliament that the government does not have money to buy sanitary pads for girls in schools.

Speaking to the media, Nambooze said that since tomorrow is women’s days, it should be respected because every woman has a right to express herself on issues affecting other women in the country.

She has instead asked the government to appreciate Nynazi boldness in fighting for the less privileged girls in rural parts of Uganda who cannot access sanitary pads.

Nyanzi is currently being interrogated by CID officials.
